You might not be aware that Facebook has not always been called Facebook. Initially Facebook was a very small website with a different name, and was meant for use by only a limited number of people. Soon after its invention it evolved so fast, that now Facebook has more than 900 million users worldwide. Facebook was invented in 2003, by Mark Zuckerberg, along with his three Havard University classmates. Facebook was initially called Fasemash. Initially Facemash was available to only Havard University students, and within a short period since website launch, about 450 students visited the website.

In 2004, Mark created a new website and called it theFacebook. At this time the intention of Mark was to make this website accessible by all University students, worldwide. More than half the population of the Havard University joined  Seeing the growth of the website, a few people joined Mark in his project, and helped in promotion of the website. Soon became available by most Universities in USA and Canada.

In 2005, Mark purchased yet another website name, this time At this point had reached several other Universities in South and Central America, and UK as well.

Besides Universities, now also became available to the employees of big companies including Microsoft and Apple. In 2006, Facebook became available to everyone in the world who was 16 years of age or older.

In the later years, more and more features were added to, like photo/video upload, apps, etc.
