Check If CPU And Memory Are Being Burdened

To improve your Mac's performance, one thing you can do is to check the CPU usage and manage that. When a number of heavy applications are running simultaneously, they utilize a lot of CPU and memory resources. This can lead to the system being stuck in case the application's requirements are greater than the system resources. Same is the case with Apple Mac OS.
